Re: 1991 diesel in California

I've had my eye on that 1991 B190. I called the mechanic today. It's not a pretty picture. Previous owner ran biodiesel in one of the tanks and it had been sitting for years. The biodiesel was like a thick gel and it was in the fuel lines, injectors, pump etc. The tank was cleaned and coated on the...

Re: Adding solar AND inverter while keeping your generator

Yeah, there's no "3 way" transfer switch that I've ever heard of, so I don't know how else you'd do what you're trying to do. The only other options might be to wire up special outlets for the inverter, but that has its own problems. Some inverters have a transfer switch installed (such as...

Doh, skater, can you move my posts about my build over to my thread?

Thanks in advance.
Done. I moved one post that wasn't technically about your build, but you mentioned what wood you used in it, so it seemed more relevant to your thread than mine.

BTW, if I were you, I would slather all that wood with poly.
I did that for the supports around the ceiling fan, and they didn't adhere to each other very well (using Liquid Nails). I was hesitating about doing it with the rest of it for that reason.

Re: Buying it back...

One more question, kstills - how much of that wool did you buy? I haven't measured, but I think 2 boxes should do it for me, for what I'm doing. But they have a special if you order a 3rd box, so if I'll need 3 I want to order them together. But I don't want to order 3 unless I actually need the thi...

Re: Buying it back...

Why can't you reinstall the windows? I think I was reacting to the fact that the inner metal rings need to be pushing against something, or the window won't sit flat like it should. So I suppose I could do it when I'm at the stage you're at, for example. Then remove them again when the actual inter...

Re: Mosquito Net for Doors

Mine has a screen with velcro on the edges, and matching velcro on the door frame. And a zipper near the middle. There's really not much to it. Open the doors, put up the screen.

Did you have that done? I feel like I've seen pictures of one that is very similar.

Re: 1991 diesel in California

In the video, "super nice" comment mentioned a few times,,,,,but it doesn't run. Yeah but it's a diesel! Somehow I completely overlooked that it wasn't actually running. And they don't specify WHY it's not running...if it were something cheap and easy you'd think they would have fi...

I just installed Airlift 5000 Airbags. Sagging problem solved. I paid $220 for open box special on Amazon and put them in myself. I added 2” lifter plates with the airbags. Looks perfectly level now but drives way better.
I'm curious, is there any way to use it to help level the camper at a site?

Bunk frame

I recreated the bunk frame for my 1991, and someone asked for the dimensions, so this thread is for that. (This info is likely different for the short top years.) Note, I traced my old boards as a template, so that's what I recommend if it's possible in your situation. You'll need: Two 2x4s, either ...

Re: Window leaks and other information

I'm working on refurbishing my B190 and I pulled the upper windows out because they were leaking. I think the primary issue is that the window must sit flat on the fiberglass, since the windows themselves are not curved. However, the fiberglass doesn't really want to cooperate, does it? Nah. Once I ...

Re: Buying it back...

Time for another update. I've actually had a little time to work on this in the past few weeks. First, I made some window frames. Someone on the FB group asked for dimensions so I posted them here . All three upper windows are out of the van shell, and two are cleaned up and ready to reinstall. I al...

Re: Checklist before purchase suggestions

Falcon has an excellent list. I'd add watch for signs of leaks (dark spots on the ceiling or walls) - it's often even visible in the ad pictures because people don't know what to look for. In particular the fan over the bunk bed is a popular spot for leaks, watch for signs that the ceiling appears t...
