Mexican & Metallic interior updates

After several years of mechanical repairs, removing propane, and upgrading to lithium, this spring I’ve had fun with the interior:
- replaced propane fridge with dorm fridge
- spray painted sink, faucet, stove, & fridge rose gold & copper
- painted subfloor with Mod Podge mixed with red glitter & sealed (previously just painted red, but not sealed, because I was going to put the postcards here)
- upgraded to faucet w/sprayer that isn’t too tall /doesn’t touch backsplash (not installed)
- mug hooks
- flip up counter extension/cutting boards on side & facing outside
- Frida Kahlo postcard backsplash
- Talavera tile on step & counter
It’s very me now. I love it!
I posted the below about how I did the tile on someone else’s thread:
If you want to upgrade the counter without ripping it out, I found a product called Simple Mat at Home Depot. It’s a fiberglass infused paper that sticks to the counter. Easy to cut & fit to the space (I eye-balled it, while my friend painstakingly measured). The bottom has flat adhesive you smooth onto the counter. The top has lines of rubbery glue, like when you get a debit or gift card. You’re supposed to be able to place tiles, rearrange, and press them into the glue to finalize layout. We found the tiles sucked onto the glue. I had sprained my left thumb in a fall and have 10 stitches in my right thumb, so I didn’t want to risk a cut or injury on my remaining fingers. I just accepted uneven grout lines. I’m about to post my pics.
I bought this product years ago, shortly after getting the van. Then I found this video using basically the same concept, but using adhesives on both sides of the paper. The Simple Mat comes with adhesive on both sides, but I bought tile adhesive to finish the bullnose. It didn’t stick as well, due to curves of the tile and counter.
