how to winterize

Post by sudec11 »

Hello, What are the steps I need to follow when winterizing. I bought the anti freeze and drained all the water. I do not know how to bypass water heater...where is this valve? thanks Joan

Mine didn't come with a bypass installed; I have one but haven't installed it yet. It would be located at the back of the water heater (inside back door, right side).

Without the bypass, you're going to need enough to fill up the water heater. Annoying. It'll take about 6-7 gallons to do it.

But the gist of it is, you put the anti freeze in the tank and pump it throughout the system. I wrote this article a while back with an overview of the steps.
