I was wondering if there was a way to quiet down the generator. mine is really loud do I just need to replace he muffler? I was just thinking of getting a quiet portable generator to use instead.
Thanks!

You probably don't have a muffler, just an exhaust pipe. You can attach a resonator (really just a small muffler) to the end of the exhaust pipe. It will make it a bit quieter but they're still pretty noisy. Web search for "onan resonator" or "onan 2.8 resonator". There's even a youtube video that shows the sound difference http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gQboSPqKtfE

I think the box they put them in tends to increase the noise, unfortunately. Definitely try the resonator.
The problem with a separate generator is where you're going to keep it and the fuel while traveling. If you want to run the air conditioner, you need a fairly sizable one (or two of the smaller ones), so that gets to be a separate headache. If you can do without the air conditioner, you can get a much smaller one.

Re: generato rnoise
I ordered the 2.8 resonator and it does not fit like in the u tube video. Actually the generator exhaust pipe and the resonator are the same size. Did I order the wrong one?

Re: generato rnoise
Try cleaning the exhaust pipe with some emery cloth. Same with the inside of the resonator. It's a tight fit.
