Thanks for the advice guys, ...I ordered mine (rear bar) a few days ago. I will post back with the results in a couple of weeks.

Hellwig installed and road tested. I've had very positive results. The rear half of the rig seems more solid and working in tandem with the front. Sway is definitely reduced, and having another 50 pounds near the axle has lowered the center of gravity. You can feel the difference even at low speeds.

Congratulations on your install! Drives much more civilized doesn't it!

Question, ...did anyone use a 3/8 inch drill with a 1/2 inch bit with a reduced 3/8 in shank? ...or does the job require the power of a 1/2 in. drill??

The material that you will be drilling is pretty soft. Just step up to 1/2" with progressively larger diameter drill bits and you'll be fine with any typical drill.

Hey Kentuckian and others,

The rear bar and now steering stabilizer have both make big improvements.

I'd just like to confirm some facts on the front bar (Hellwig #7604 shown for a 1993). The standard bar appears to only have two u brackets, then the ends slide through rubber grommets in holes in the front frame/suspension bar. The ends of the bar are actually pointed like spears. The illustration of the Hellwig bar shows a lot more parts and brackets for mounting and holes at the ends of their bar.

The install of the Hellwig must be a little more involved that just the "mounts" and grommets of the original bar, correct?

In the next day or two, I will crawl under my B and see if I can get you a good photo of the bracket installed. Hopefully, the photo will be better than a 1000 words.

I mounted my rear bar this past weekend. Pretty easy to install, expanding the 1/4 in. hole to 1/2 in. was very easy with a new bit. Thanks to the previous posters for all of the hints. (An extra pair of hands would have worked better than the floor jack I used to lift the bar while I assembled the mounting hardware.) So buy a six pack and invite your neighbor over!

AND, ...they are correct. I installed new heavy duty shocks last year, but they did nothing to stabilize the ride compared to the rear sway bar addition. I would put this project under the "must do now" category.

Here is a photo of the mounting bracket assembly for one side of the Hellwig front anti sway bar. I checked the photos in the instructions. I thought this actual photo was more clear. I am a little puzzled by your comment that the ends of the sway bar are pointed like spears. As you can see in this photo the end of my bar was more blunt. (You can just see the end of the bar towards the top of the photo.)

I used a very old 3/8 drill with a 1/2" bit with no problem. The key for me was getting a good 1/2" carbide bit for about $16 at my local hardware store.

My B190 is a 1997. I would like to install a stabilizer bar but the fresh water holding tank is only
9 inches from the center of the axle to the tank. Has anyone had a problem with this.

I have a 97 also and I've been investigating the stabilizer bar. I have the same situation as you do with the water tank. I called Hellwig and was told that I needed at least six inches from the back of the differential. My tank is only about three inches away at that spot.
My tank also hangs down a bit lower than the differential. I was hoping that the stabilizer bar, after it's axle attachment,
would be below the tank but I haven't been able to confirm this. I don't think it would though.

Give Hellwig a call and explain your situation.
