Spring.... will it ever arrive ?
The question that everyone all over the lower 48 and Alaska are asking..!
Washington and Alaska have really had a tough winter this year...
The good news this morning is SE Alaska is having some blue sky and sunshine....bout damn time.
And...its nesting time for the eagles and this guy is watching for a meal to swim by...
What its been like where you live this winter...?

The worst was in February when a storm knocked out my electricity for 48 hours. After the first day, though, I used the generator in the camper to run the fridge in the house (the old cord-through-the-window trick), then the second night I slept in the camper with the generator running a heater.
DEFINITELY READY FOR SPRING!
Just think, last year at this time I was living out of the camper! That still amazes me, for some reason...

Y'all can keep that!
On the other hand, I LOVE reading the Alaskan Alpine Club's stories about the ice sculptures they make for people to climb on. The guy that writes the pages for it has a funny, dry wit.

More Juneau....
Juneau avalanche expert Bill Glude takes photos Wednesday of an avalanche coming down the west slope of Mount Roberts, crossing Thane Road and into Gastineau Channel. The slide was the result of the State of Alaska, Department of Transportation and Public Facilities, Maintenance and Operations, avalanche control shoots. The DOT estimates re-opening Thane Road for traffic at 7 p.m. Wednesday. There is an estimated 20 feet of snow covering the road.
Look close you'll see a road now totally covered by this avalanche....

I miss the Athens winters (I went to UGA for grad school). And it'd be nice not having to winterize!
But today we're up to about 72, yesterday was 70...but down to the 50s later this week.
I'm ready for summer. I get a decent case of cabin fever about this time each year. I WANNA GO CAMPING!

Well.....nearly a year has passed since I started this thread I see
Just west of Seattle about 40 miles is the Cascade Mountains where as of this morning the total snowfall so far this winter has been 450 inches...37 1/2 feet
And thats no where near the record of just over 600 inches...50 feet
Someplace warm in the winters would be nice...
