Yours is kind of interesting - it's a 1990 chassis, but a 1991 Airstream VIN. In other words, when they built yours in the 1991 Airstream model year, the chassis was a leftover from 1990. So for any slight differences between those years, you're more likely to have the 1991 design. Of course, they didn't always change designs right at the beginning of the model year, so anything is possible.

Also, yours is the lowest numbered 1991 we've seen so far. Innnnteresting!

Got it. Also, you might find this interesting. It also appeared in this very thread! :)

My van is passing through a few b190.com hands. I guess this makes me owner number four with an average ownership time of 8 years.

Hey @skater, I feel like I've seen this somewhere on this forum, but what's the latest airstream VIN number you have in your database? Mine is 1378 and I'm just a little curious roughly how many were made after mine.

We know the sequence numbers go up to 1,393, because a B190 owner who sells Airstreams knew their dealer got the first Airstream B van that wasn't a B190, and it had 1,394 as its sequence number. So yours is definitely one of the last of the line!

But...the highest B190 VIN I have in the db is #1379. :) It's a 2000 model year.

This is actually really good news for the database, though. And it's raising one issue I have with the database that I'm not sure what to do about. I currently run it by chassis VIN, because I have those much more often than I do the Airstream VINs. The counts of "number built by year" posted elsewhere are almost certainly by Airstream year. As we've noted, the chassis year doesn't always line up with the Airstream year - SheilaG's is in fact a 1999 chassis. (I'll note these were both in the database already, but because of the organization issue, I didn't spot it.)

So, right here we have a perfect example - your 1999 is the very last 1999, and the very next number (Sheila's) is a 2000. But the database isn't recognizing that connection because it's working by chassis year, not Airstream year.

What's the good news, then? Since we now have one of the changeovers pinned (#1378 was the last of the '99s, and #1379 was the first of the 2000s), and we know how many Airstream made most years, we can theoretically figure out the lowest and highest sequence numbers for each year.

Wow. That is really cool to have this data and know it. I did run into someone online recently who mentioned they had a 2000, which was news to me that there were some with 2000 Airstream years associated with them. I wish I remembered who it was so I could go back to them and try and get them to give you their VIN to add to the database.

Using the logic in this post, I did this. Note this is a theoretical year/sequence number table, it's not confirmed (and I haven't even checked it against the database for the Airstream VINs that I do have).

Edit: Never mind, this isn't correct...several Airstream VINs are out of the range of the values given here. Hmmmmmmmm.

Edit 2: This is weird, but here's the issue...

1B9KGVA28XJ301368 - 1999 - #1368
1B9KGVA20XJ301378 - 1999 - #1378
1B9KGVA25YJ301376 - 2000 - #1376
1B9KGVA20YJ301379 - 2000 - #1379

If you look at the sequence numbers, they made a 1999 model AFTER a 2000 model.

Bummer...thought I had something there. Sigh.

Hi, I’m new to this, but was asked to register my fast moving house here.

I’m not sure where to find the airstream vin. I’d love to contribute in anyway I can. Thank you

Welcome to the site! The Airstream VIN is usually embossed on an aluminum plate under the hood (usually just above the radiator).

Also - where are you located? Roughly - we don't need your exact address or anything like that.

Thanks.
