Engine not making power

I had a problem with my 1993 B190 losing power climbing grades in Alaska.....The problem was the catalytic converter. The ford dealer sent me to a muffler shop after they found the problem...It cost me $816. The service manager at the Ford dealership told me that the converter at the ford dealership would have cost over $1200 just for the parts....Also, the ford dealers in Alaska are great ...best service that I ever received from any repair facility.
